Marja Nurminen is an artist, educator, and researcher. In her work, the value of drawing as a tool for thinking is central. She has had 19 solo exhibitions in Sweden and Finland. She has taken part in over 30 group exhibitions in Sweden, Finland, Spain, and Romania. She is represented at many art collections such as The Finnish State Art Collection, Public Art Agency, Sweden and the City of Gothenburg. She has made four public art works, three in Sweden and one in Finland. She worked as a junior lecturer in painting at Konstfack, Sweden between 1998 – 2005. During 2005-2006 she worked as the deputy Head of the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies at Konstfack. Since 2006 she has worked as lecturer in Drawing and Painting at Aalto University, School of Arts, Design and Architecture. She defended her doctoral thesis “The teaching of drawing in higher arts education – Articulating the practitioner’s orientations” 3.5.2024.
Denise Ziegler is a Helsinki based visual artist and researcher of public space. Her works are traces of gestures, of human activity, of something that has occurred in public space. Currently Ziegler is working as a professor of artistic research at the doctoral programme of the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of the Arts Helsinki and as a university lecturer at Transdisciplinary Art Studies (TAITE) at Aalto Universit, department of Art and Media.
